Nestled in downtown Spruce Pine, Spruce Pine Montessori School serves families from four counties. Our region of western North Carolina boasts mountain beauty, diverse flora and fauna, and a rich cultural history. Partnerships with parents, volunteers, local businesses, and local artists and craftspeople make Spruce Pine Montessori a stronger and better school. Our community is who we are and where we started; it is our foundation and our future.

Parent Involvement

Parents are an essential component in the Montessori approach to education, which we see as a collaboration between the children, the parents, and the teaching staff. This partnership creates an investment in each child’s future.

Our parents have built the school, with their hearts and hands, from its initial conception to the construction of its walls, materials, furniture and outdoor spaces, all on a volunteer basis. Parents donate time by grocery shopping and doing laundry, as field trip drivers, at special workdays and fundraising events like our annual auction, on committees, and much more. Lawn and building maintenance, fish care, and even running errands are all parental jobs that contribute to the smooth running of the school.
