Admissions Process for New Students
Spruce Pine Montessori School uses a rolling admissions process
where children are accepted throughout the year. Currently, we offer a
Toddler program for children ages 18 months-3 years; a Primary program
for children ages 3-6 years; and elementary programs for children ages
6-12. We maintain a 1:6 teacher to student ratio in our Toddler program;
based on this ratio, we have a maximum of 12 spaces for children ages 18
months-3 years. We maintain a 1:10 teacher to student ratio in our
Primary program; based on this ratio, we have a maximum of 40 spaces for
3-6 year old children. If there are no spaces available at the time we
receive your application, we will be happy to put you on our waiting
list.
Spruce Pine Montessori School has a three-step admissions process for
acceptance:
A scheduled tour and question-and-answer session with the Head of
School (This should be done with the child if possible)
A completed application turned in to SPMS along with the
non-refundable $50 application fee (application below)
Review of application by the Admissions Committee
Tour and Question-and-Answer Session
One of the best ways to decide whether a school is right for your
child’s education is for you and your family to visit the school, meet
the faculty and staff, and see the classrooms in action. To learn more
about the Montessori approach and about SPMS specifically, please
schedule a tour by contacting the office at (828) 765-7779.
Enrollment Application
Please complete the enrollment application and return it to the school
office along with your $50 non-refundable application fee. You may also
mail your application and fee to:

Admissions Committee
The Spruce Pine Montessori School Admissions Committee consists of the
Head of School, one member of the Board of Trustees, and the faculty for
the appropriate age-level program. The Admissions Committee will review
your application and notify you by phone or mail of your acceptance
status.
Financial
Aid
SPMS will begin offering financial aid packages for
the 2009-2010 school year. There will be limited availability in year
one with plans to grow the program in every additional year. Financial
aid will be available both to current and new students. Any interested
families must have enrollment/reenrollment paperwork submitted and all
previous year's tuition/expenses paid in full before applying.

Family Handbook
Our family handbook is a great source
of information about policies and procedures at SPMS. If you
are a family currently enrolled at SPMS, please read the
2009-2010 Family Handbook and submit the sign-off sheet to the
office.
